Scenario: Meeting One person
You say: Dia Duit
They say: Dia is Muire Duit
Meeting more than one person
You say: Dia Daoibh
They say: Dia is Muire Duit
You must be careful; if you are greeted first then simply reverse the roles above, you will say the response rather than the initial greeting. Remember, it’s Dia is Muire duit if there is one person and Dia is Muire Daoibh if you are responding to more than one person.
